Onboarding a regulated product, without the paperwork fog.
The team had shipped a product that regulators loved and customers didn’t. Forty-one onboarding steps, six document uploads, an average of two calendar days to activate an account. Conversion was bleeding, compliance was unmovable.
What we found
Seven of the forty-one steps existed because nobody remembered why. Four more were present only because a 2022 auditor had once asked about them verbally. The legal team, when we sat down with them, was genuinely surprised at how much we had inferred from a passing remark.
"We didn’t need less compliance. We needed to stop confusing compliance with ceremony."

What we built
A four-screen flow, a single document-intake component that talks to three underlying verification providers, and a decision log that the compliance team reads like a newspaper. The hard work was not in the interface — it was in the contracts between our onboarding service and everything downstream.
Results
Nine months later the client extended the engagement to cover transaction monitoring. That is the work we are doing now.
